Our wait begins…

Yesterday we said a very difficult goodbye to Hubby and Daddy.  Joe left for Fort Benning for a few final days to prepare for his departure to Iraq on Friday.   So now we wait.  We are blessed that it’s only for 4 months, we know.  We are blessed that Joe will be in a relatively safe place, we know.  We know that so many others before us have gone through much more difficult separations.  I feel like my suffering is not justified, because I can’t compare it to other military families before us.  But it is hard nonetheless.

Before Joe left he compared our family’s separation in a small way to our separation from our Savior.  While we wait on our time to meet Him face to face, we hear His voice, we bask in His blessings for us and we long for His presence.  That is so much like hearing Joe’s voice on the phone, living with the provisions from his military income, and eagerly counting down the days as we wait for him to come home.  All the while, what is really wanted is his loving arms around us and his smile so close we can touch it.  Same with our Loving Savior.  One day we will be in the actual presence of Jesus.  And in the mean time, we are waiting for Him to bring him home.

  1. Wow baby…this is beautiful layout and it’s wonderful to see a new picture of the kids. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Many are pulling for and praying for us. I love you dearly. Kiss the kids for me!!

  2. Hi Katy and crew –

Thanks for keeping us posted about your family — especially for attending to the details while your thoughts are busy with Joe’s assignment (and yours, too). I’m going to share your blogs with our Bible study, so you can be sure some other Christ the Rock-ers are lifting all of you up in prayer. Much love to you, courageous mama . . .
